Photo © Brygida T.Most of us know firsthand that our dogs can distract us while we run. Most of us also recognize that several of these disturbances can be removed by restraining our dogs in the car, but many of us do not do this. In a newly released survey from AAA/Kurgo, 65% of dog owners surveyed admitted that they operate at least one potentially distracting activity while driving with their dog (in most cases the petting the dog). 83% of respondents recognised Furthermore, an unrestrained dog in a moving car can be dangerous, but only 16% said they currently use a pet restraint. Online survey was conducted by motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA and PET travel product company Kurgo. Those polled 1,000 dog owners can drive with their dog in previous 12 months.
I admit that I have been guilty of not using a restraint for my dog, especially when only short distances. The study gave people more reasons for not restraining their pets. Some wanted their dogs to be able to hang their heads out the window, others felt a restraint too much trouble. Many said they only took their dogs on short tours. The main reason people gave was, however, that they felt their pets was calm and did not need moderation. But the risks are not only about potential interference. The reality of it is shocking when you consider this statement from Jennifer Huebner-Davidson, AAA national, traffic safety programs manager: "a fierce 10-pound dog in a crash at just 30 mph would exercise roughly 300 pounds of pressure, while a fierce 80-pound dog in a crash at just 30 mph will carry approximately 2,400 pounds of pressure. Imagine the devastationthat can cause to your pets and anyone in its path. " Wow. When you think about the way think the extra time it takes to subdue the dog well worth. The full results of the study, check out AAA/Kurgo 2011 Pet Survey fact sheet (PDF).

Your dog Oral health is more important than you think!
Is your dog is suffering from "doggie breath"?
The type that makes you avoid putting your face too close to your dog's mouths for fear of being knocked over by the awful smell?
I have been lucky. My dogs have relatively sweet-smelling breath most of the time, but I know that some dogs suffer terribly from the most offensive-smelling breath.
My parents have a beautiful golden cocker spaniel, named honey. Honey is the absolute leading-more like a teddy bear than a dog. She loves to snuggle on you and likes to have his face near yours. But as sweet as honey, her breath was absolutely not!
In the years safe I honey had no idea why all pulled away from her Sentimental. Not to put too fine a point on it. Her breath was unbearable.
But we found the solution!
Not only that I have discovered that doggie breath also can be a symptom of a much more serious and insidious, health problem. Apparently, it is estimated that 80 percent of dogs (and 70 percent of cats) over three years suffering from periodontal disease-which is a serious deterioration of the gums and supporting bones of the teeth.
Left unchecked, can the resulting bacteria enter the bloodstream, eventually causing damage to vital organs such as kidneys, lungs, heart or liver or infection! That is why this pet disease has been called the "Silent Killer of pets."And get this-correct pet oral health can extend the life of your pet by two to five years!I was blown away to learn from this, that I immediately need to figure out how I could help the honey. She has actually been put on special vegetarian diet due to all kinds of internal and external skin problems, and there has been a question raised about her liver. Honey is 11 years old, so she is certainly no spring chicken, and at this late stage, it may be too late to add five years of her life. But we will be happy with an additional two years, or even a, or whatever can be achieved. As you know, I'm on a mission to research very best strategies and products that can actually improve our dog welfare, and I am particularly keen on is one that has proven to increase life span.Well, I have found the solution to your dog Doggie-breath, and that the terrible effects that bad breath bacteria may cause on your dog's health and life.It is called Oxyfresh for pets. There is great confusion in relation to positive reinforcement dog training-how it works, whether it works properly as a stand alone system, and so on. I recently came across a summary of the 4 critical elements of a positive reinforcement training system that really works:
1: a positive reinforcement dog training must deal with positive reinforcement only. And indicates it in its coverage. One positive reinforcement dog training expert, insists that "many books will try to hide the fact that you've hit, drag, even throw the chains on your animals to get it to perform". He was exaggerating a little here-I am aware of a training method, as the advocate general cast a small piece of the chain on the floor near the dog to the dog's immediate attention. I was taught this method even when my dogs were puppies. I was not terribly keen method, but it certainly does not involve animal cruelty. He however has a point.
And Yes, those other dog training methods will work, but your dog might end up being a little cautious with you. Positive reinforcement dog training, teach you on the other hand, how to solve behavior problems without even touching your dog.
2: Any positive reinforcement dog training system needs to have very specific instructions on how to deal with each behavior that may arise. It must cover at least the basics of how to get started, including the following behaviors, which you will want to encourage or discourage, as appropriate:
Seating
Stay
Lie down
Come
Crate training
Barking
Bites
Jump
Potty Training
Aggression
Fear (i.e. Vacuum Cleaners)
Cord control
3: it is also preferable to have a dog training method, which results in your dog will be trained to perform all of these behaviors with hand cues. Hand cues you can take the training to the next level.
A well-trained dog must learn to master all the basic behaviors with Visual cues and hand sound signals. Your dog will not always be able to hear them, he can be in a noisy park or lose his hearing in old age, and will need to rely on your signals still obey, even when he doesn't hear you.
4: a positive reinforcement dog training manual should also cover more difficult behaviors, and not only focus on training your dog to a merely tolerable level.
Any training method should create confidence. If your dog does not have confidence in you, or, God forbid, are afraid of you, to some extent, you get the best out of your dog. It is this extra confidence that will take your relationship with your dog to the next level. And you can use positive reinforcement dog training to achieve some pretty spectacular results. And it can give you the benefit of a very deep bond with your dog.
